Let The Right One In

Bella: How old are you? 
Edward: Seventeen. 
Bella: How long have you been seventeen? 
Edward: A while. 

Oskar: How old are you? 
Eli: Twelve... more or less. 
Eli: What about you? 
Oskar: Twelve years, eight months and nine days. What do you mean, "more or less"? 
Oskar: When's your birthday? 
Eli: I don't know. 
Oskar: Don't you celebrate your birthday? Your parents... they've got to know. 
Eli: [Eli looks down on the ground] 
Oskar: Then you don't get any birthday presents, do you? 
Eli: No. 

Isabella Swan: [to Edward] You're impossibly fast. And strong. Your skin is... pale white, and ice cold. Your eyes change color, and sometimes you speak like you’re from a different time. You never eat or drink anything. You don't go into the sunlight. 

Oskar: Are you a vampire? 
Eli: I live off blood... 
[pause] 
Eli: Yes. 
Oskar: Are you... 
[pause] 
Oskar: Dead? 
Eli: No. Can't you tell?
Oskar: Aren’t you cold?
Eli: No.
Oskar: Why not?
Eli: I guess I’ve forgotten how.

Edward Cullen: What's in Jacksonville? 
Isabella Swan: How did you know about that? 
Edward Cullen: You didn't answer my question. 
Isabella Swan: Well, you don't answer any of mine so... I mean, you don't even say hi to me. 
Edward Cullen: [pause] Hi. 

Eli: [standing outside the door] You have to invite me in. 
Oskar: What happens if I don't? 
Oskar: What happens if you walk in anyway? 
Oskar: [feels the air between himself and Eli] Is there something in the way? 

Edward Cullen: I'm the world's most dangerous predator. Everything about me invites you in. My voice, my face, even my smell. As if I would need any of that. As if you could outrun me. As if you could fight me off. I'm designed to kill. 

Oskar: Who are you? 
Eli: I'm like you. 
Oskar: What do you mean? 
Eli: [accusing tone] What are you staring at? Well? 
Eli: Are you looking at me? 
Eli: [points her finger at Oskar] So scream! Squeal! 
Eli: Those were the first words I heard you say. 
Oskar: I don't kill people. 
Eli: No, but you'd like to. If you could... To get revenge. Right? 
Oskar: Yes. 
Eli: Oskar, I do it because I have to. 
Eli: Be me, for a while. 
[pause] 
Eli: Please Oskar... Be me, for a little while. 

Edward: I only said it would be better if we weren't friends, not that I didn't want to be. 
Bella: What does that mean? 
Edward: It means if you're smart... you'll stay away from me. 
Bella: Okay, let's say for argument's sake that I'm not smart. 

Eli: Just so you know, I can’t be your friend.
Oskar: What do you mean?
Eli: Does there have to be a reason? That’s just the way it is.

Bella: You know, your mood swings are kinda giving me whiplash. 

Oskar: Are you so sure that I want to be your friend?

Bella: Look, You gotta give me some answers. 
Edward: Yes. No. To get to the other side. Uh, 1.77245... 
Bella: I don't need to know what the square root of pi is. 
Edward: You knew that? 

[Scene in the playground/jungle gym –first time they meet]
Oskar: Do you live here?
Eli: Yeah... I live right here, in the jungle gym.
Oskar: Seriously, where do you live?
Eli: [points to her house] Next door to you.
Oskar: How do you know where I live?
Eli: [No answer]

Bella: About three things I was absolutely positive: First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him-and I didn't know how dominant that part might be-that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Oskar: Would you be my girlfriend?

Bella: [freaking out] You can't leave me! 
Edward: Shh... Where else would I go? 
[he leans in to kiss her forehead] 

Oskar & Eli kiss

Bella: [to Edward] I'd rather die than to stay away from you. 

Eli: [Vomits out a sweet that Oskar bought for her and looks about to cry]
Eli: Sorry.
Oskar: [Walks up to Eli and hugs her]
Eli: Oskar… Do you like me?
Oskar: Yeah, a lot.
